Swedish Wool Initiative

CTH Ericson is a proud partner in The Swedish Wool Initiative - a collaboration that will lift Swedish wool from Dalarna to new innovative products and materials.

The demand for sustainable materials is steadily increasing, while most of the Swedish wool is discarded. The aim of the project is to build capacity to take care of all the wool produced in Dalarna and Sweden. The project will develop innovative products and materials, both in textile production and other industries, through circular design and circular business models, as well as the implementation of a new tool for quality assurance of Swedish wool. The focus of product development and innovation is scalability and commercialization.

As part of the project, we at CTH Ericson have developed some products made of wool from Dalarna:

Vegamössa Nordvad - when tradition meets innovation in Swedish wool.

The Vega hat is sewn and manufactured in our own hat factory in Borlänge. In this version, we have used the wool fabric Nordvad from Bollnäs weaving mill, which gives this iconic headgear a timeless aesthetic combined with functionality. The lining and other materials are deadstock that has not been used but now gets new life again.

Vegamössa Glint - when tradition meets innovation in Swedish wool.

The Vega hat is sewn and manufactured in our own hat factory in Borlänge. In this version, we have used the classic wool fabric Glint from Bollnäs weaving mill, which gives this iconic hat a timeless elegance and a natural shine of Swedish wool. The lining and other materials are deadstock that has not been used but now gets new life again.

Edward Nordvad - cap in 100% Swedish wool.

This Flat cap is sewn and manufactured in our own hat factory in Borlänge. In this design, we have used the wool fabric Nordvad from Bollnäs weaving mill. The cap reflects opportunities where local wool and traditional craftsmanship from Dalarna create sustainable products of the future.

Ball cap Glint - cap in 100% Swedish wool.

CTH Ericsons Ball cap is a 6-panel cap with an unstructured and low silhouette, sewn and manufactured in our own hat factory in Borlänge. In this design we have used the classic wool fabric Glint from Bollnäs weaving mill which gives the cap a beautiful blue-black shine of the Swedish wool, matched with leather and brass.

Ball cap Nordvad - cap in 100% Swedish wool.

CTH Ericson's Ball cap is a 6-panel cap with an unstructured and low silhouette, sewn and manufactured in our own hat factory in Borlänge. In this design, we have used the rolled wool fabric Nordvad from Bollnäs weaving mill, which gives an expression of commonplace that meets popular culture. The durable brown calfskin fabric is matched with leather and brass.
